A site about the amateur radio hobby and the activities at my amateur radio station. VE3LXL operates mostly on weekends on the HF amateur bands. If you hear me, give me a call - I'm always glad to work someone new.

I also enjoy listening to and DXing broadcast radio. I blog about this on my Greg's Radio Logbook site.

First WSPR Loggings

Today was the first time I tried out WSPR (receiving only). I left the radio tuned to 14097 kHz in the 20 metre band (one of the standard WSPR frequencies) from 18:00 to 23:50 UTC today (Sat. Apr. 2, 2011) and let the software decode any WSPR signals it heard. Here's what I caught:
  • 18:10 UTC, KE7A, Southlake TX, Grid: EM12px, 5 watts.
  • 18:40 UTC, KC9OHX, Atlanta GA, Grid: EM73sr, 5 watts.
  • 20:48 UTC, VE6OG, Edmonton AB, Grid: DO33pm, 5 watts.
  • 21:04 UTC, AI4RY, Auburn AL, Grid: EM72go, 1 watt.
  • 22:46 UTC, KC4RSN, Opelika, AL, Grid: EM72lp, 5 watts.

All of these stations put in multiple appearances. KE7A in particular was seen the entire time.
